FIRST SUPER VISA ISSUED ONLY 2 WEEKS AFTER LAUNCH
Its wonderful to see a governement office working so fast to reunite families. Let's be real - CIC's pledge to process visa's - from five/eight years to only eight weeks - shows great committment.
Wait - its even faster? For someone it was.
The first Parent and Grandparent Super Visa has been issued, only two weeks after the CIC began accepting Visa's.
We pledged to process the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa in less than eight weeks. We've issued the first of the Super Visa's in just two weeks.
said Minister Jason Kenney.
The Super Visa was launched as an option for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit their families in Canada for an extended period of time.
Jason Kenney continues,
With the Super Visa, we've taken a common sense approach that allows parents and grandparents to spend extended periods of time with their loved ones in Canada, while at the same time, acting responsibly in protecting Canadian taxpayers.
Applicants for the Super VIsa must submit proof that the host child or grandchild meets a minimum income requirement, demonstrate that they have purchased comprehensive Canadian medical insurance and undergo an Immigration Medical Examination.
The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that will provide multiple entries for a period of up to ten years. The Super Visa will have status periods for each entry that last up to two years.
