Now offering Super Visa Health Insurance!
With a backlog close to 170,000 in new sponsorship applications, on December 1, 2011 Immigration Canada unveiled a new Super Visa that will be good for 10-years, renewable every two years.
Subject to certain requirements, parents and grandparents are now eligible to stay in Canada longer than 6-months and no longer have to apply for an extension or pay additional fees for 24-months.
Those who are currently attempting to reunite families will recognize the significance of this visa. With a permanent residence application queue that can last up to a decade in order to get to the front of the line, super visa applicants will receive a decision on average of 8 weeks.
Further to being a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, applicants will be subject to certain conditions. Visa officers will review many factors to ensure that the applicant is a genuine visitor to Canada.
Amongst other conditions include the need to provide proof of private medical insurance valid for a minimum of 1 year that covers the cost of health care, hospitalization, and repatriation, provides a minimum coverage amount of $100,000 and is valid for each and every entry into Canada.
Applicants are also required to undergo an immigration medical examination in order to come to Canada, this is part of the application process for the VISA not the travel insurance.
