Super Visa Approval Rate Reaches New Heights
Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced a very high rate of approval for Parent and Grandparent Super Visas since the Super Visa program launched.
According to the latest announcement, there were more than one thousand Parent and Grandparent Super Visa applications approved in less than three months and the overall approval rate of the visa reached 77 percent. Minister Kenney expressed his pleasure in response to the news, “I’m pleased that the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is working as intended and giving large numbers of eligible parents and grandparents an opportunity to spend extended periods of time with their families in Canada”.
In terms of the process for obtaining visa, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) stated that it was quite simple and straightforward for applicants. Applicants for the Super Visa are required to submit proof that the host child or grandchild meets a minimum income, show that they have purchased comprehensive Canadian medical insurance and undergo the Immigration Medical Examination. About 99 percent of applicants meeting these requirements met the other standard admissibility criteria which are required for all Canadian visa applicants.
The figures also reveal that 80 percent of the finalized Super Visa applications were granted within 41 calendar days, which was quicker than the target of eight weeks. CIC plans to keep the Super Visa processing time to within eight weeks even as applications ramp up.
