NEW 10-YEAR SUPER VISA FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS LIVING ABROAD

The Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has introduced a new 10-year multiple-entry Super Visa for parents and grandparents who wish to visit their children and grandchildren in Canada. Until now, visiting parents or grandparents could only remain in Canada for a maximum of six months at a time. After that, they would have to leave the country and apply to re-enter. Now, parents and grandparents who are approved for a Super Visa will receive a multiple-entry visa valid for 10 years. Although the visa is valid for 10 years, entry on the visa is only permitted for up to two years at a time.
